WE MAKE PROGRESS ON HIS WISH EVERYDAY
Zachary Walter Mesch was a wonderful inspiration to all those who he met. Zach was first diagnosed with Lymphoma when he was 16. After a protracted battle, Zach was declared cancer free in November 2007. He graduated in the spring of 2008 and headed off Wichita State University (WSU) where he performed as the University’s mascot, WU, and took an active role in the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. In November of 2009 Zach returned from WSU for Thanksgiving break. While at home, a trip to The Children’s Hospital showed his cancer had returned and was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). During his stay in the hospital, his family and friends came together to organize a fund raising walk and run to help offset the family’s medical costs associated with his treatment. Zach loved idea of the run/walk, and was deeply moved by the support of his friends and family. It was his hope that the run/walk would become and annual event to benefit other kids in similar situations. Zach battled Leukemia courageously for the next seven months until his passing the morning of July 4th, 2010. His mom, Valerie, and dad, Tim, started Zach’s Wishes for Miracles to honor his memory. This organization is dedicated to Zach’s memory and his desire to help other young adults with cancer. Committed to fighting the good fight one miracle at a time. Zach's Wishes is a 501 (c) (3) which provides "miracles" to young adults ages 18-23 who have or have had cancer.
